Leon Trevor McManus grew up an orphan, in a neighborhood under the
'protection' of the Irish Republican Army. He spent his early years
as a thief, stealing and pickpocketing to survive. Around puberty,
he joined up with the IRA, discovering his more than exceptional skill
with marksmanship. After two years with the IRA, he became a freelance
assassin, working all over Europe, and eventaully in Hong Kong and the
United States. He first learned of the Alien Threat and X-Com during
a hit. From the top of a skyscraper, he viewed a terror mission unfold,
countless people loose their lives, the landing of a Skyranger, and the
X-Com cleanup; All through the scope of a rifle. McManus continued
to work, even with X-Com a few times- from the cover of darkness.
Using private sectors, he was able to buy X-Com research. Through
the Black Market, he bought X-Com equipment. At the time of the Mission
to Cydonia, McManus was in Seattle. As he learned of the failure
of the mission, he fled north to Alaska, only being able to predict the
alien retaliation that would ensue. In Alaska, he came across a band
of soldiers and civilians called the Cold Force, led by former Delta Force
Captain Sam Wychin. Leon joined up as a private, and after a time
of working alone, he gave his loyalty. With this, Leon shot up in
the ranks, from Seargent, to Master Seargent, to 2nd Lieutenant.
After the Battle of Anchorage and the forming of the USSA by the now President
Wychin, Leon was left in charge of the Cold Force. For roughly 30
years, McManus was the Captain of the unit, maintaining a quite low casualty
rate. Over time, Leon had begun to loose his loyalties to Wychin,
and the USSA. For a time, Leon just waited, until he would be given
the chance for revenge, a chance to escape the country, a chance for anything.
Finally it came, when McManus was transferred from his position as Captain
of the Cold Force, to a USSA training academy. Leon and his team,
his friends, had all been heroes of the Great War. He could be nothing
short of a legend to the rookies at the academy; at least, some.
He would use that to his advantage one day. |
