Low Point

Captain Sam Wychin stood inside the UFO, looking around as a non-uniformed Michael Thornside bustled around inside, fiddling with what looked like a purple computer. The team's grenades had done their job well, fragging all the aliens inside. Unfortunately, they also damaged or destroyed most of the equipment. Mike, sitting at the computer looked up at Sam.

"Sir? Take a look at this - I think I've figured out what all this alien gibberish means."

Sam leaned on a cracked purple panel next to the functional one.

"All right, trooper. What'cha got for me?"

"Well, sir, this appears to be a map of some sort... I'm surprised its still functioning considering that the reactor core over there - " He pointed at the orange cylinder sticking out from a pod of some sort the UFO's floor " - has a crack in it. No offense sir, but next time, don't throw explosives around this stuff. Alien equipment breaks just as easily as ours does... "

Sam gave the engineer a condescending smile.

"Maybe next time, _private_, you'd like to go in yourself and politely ask the aliens if they want to come out of the UFO so that we can have their equipment intact?"

"No sir... but... " Michael stammered and turned red.

"Don't worry about it trooper. After all, you're the X-Com trooper around here... Anyway, what's the map of?" Sam's face regained a business-like look.

"Well, sir, I think it's a topographical map of the area the UFO is located in. Back in X-Com I got to work with these navigational units... As far as I can tell, the UFO is right here." Mike pointed at some alien writing next to a dot.

"What's that?" Sam pointed to a cluster of gray dots surrounded by a box.

"I don't know sir. Probably a bunch of buildings... "

"All right. We might as well check it out... it can't get much worse than this... " Sam trailed off.

Plus, we're running out of supplies, Sam added mentally.
